Shop with Cops Needs Your Help
Irna Landrum | Blog | Monday October 11 2010Shop with Cops started in 2000 as a way to foster positive relationships between police officers and St. Paul youth. On Shop with Cops program days, St. Paul police officers are paired with 1-2 kids from the Summit-U and Frogtown communities to Christmas shop for their families. Children are given $50-100, depending on the size of their families. Cops help kids choose appropriate gifts for their family members and budget so that they have enough to spend for each person on their list. After shopping, everyone has a meal together, wraps all the gifts, and gets to know each other a little bit.
This year is Shop with Cops’ 10-year anniversary! We started out in 2000 with 50 kids and 15 officers. Last year we served 213 kids with 107 officers. We’re growing and we need your help.
