Garlic Sharing Project

Irna Landrum | Blog | Thursday October 28 2010

“MOTOWN garlic” -  straight from Detroit – to be shared and planted in your garden this fall!

Detroit has made the move to grow a lot of its own food right in the city.
They have given AfroEco 5 lbs of garlic for free to plant in the Twin Cities and grow our own supply of garlic.

Walk away with knowledge about how to use and grow garlic and plant your own garlic supply for next year. Enjoy the security, savings and health of growing your own.  Never buy garlic again.

Come share what you know about garlic and learn what others know.
The plan is to offer a Sharing and Planting day/party at a total of 4-6 gardens in St. Paul and Minneapolis.

What exactly that will look like will be different depending on the desire and energy of the gardeners of each garden. Please come out and join us!
Current proposed gardens are:

Peace Sanctuary Planting: 10/29/2010
SULAH
ArtsUs/Dunning
Gordon Parks
Ober Community Center Garden: 11/2/2010
Rondo & Victoria Garden: 10/23/2010
Streetwerks Garden on Glenwood Ave N

If this is something you are interested in and can see happening in your garden this October. (The garlic should be planted by the end of October.) Then let’s brainstorm what makes sense for your garden.
